Transform an ordinary Sharpie into and extraordinary EDC tool. Nearly two decades in the making, SharpShifter by Nicholas Lawrence is an incredible utility gimmick that unlocks a variety of stunning new effects you can do with the Sharpie you already carry.
"Another triumph for Nicholas Lawrence! He has created a supremely clever multi-purpose EDC that's more like a weapon of mass deception. The only difficult thing is deciding which one of the MANY routines you'll use to slay your audiences."
- Gregory Wilson
SharpShifter is a discrete, precision-made gimmick that is seamlessly compatible with a standard fine tip Sharpie. Use it for everything from teleporting ink routines, vanishes and spirit writing to more unique concepts like the ability to take away a volunteer's strength, tap into someone's sense of smell, and even have a reveal appear "written" on your tongue.
This practical worker is designed for real-world situations. It resets instantly and, since the Sharpie itself is ordinary, you can let it be examined as much as you want.
As you've come to expect from Nicholas Lawrence, no stone is left unturned in the two hours of tutorials you receive- which includes an incredible 40-minute session with Peter Turner. In total, you get more than 15 stunning effects that can be done right away and will inspire you to find your own creative ways to use SharpShifter.
Main Effects
What's Cappening? A multi-phase routine in which the marker magically re-caps itself.
Double Dot: A dot vanishes from their hands and teleports to yours.
Dot Thought: This extension of "Double Dot" adds a mind-reading kicker that occurs after the dot teleports.
Shcribble: Your helper creates a random doodle without looking, and you perfectly re-create it.
Tongue Artist: A bizarre and unique effect where you reveal a spectator's thought using "ink" on your tongue. (note: no actual ink is put on your tongue)
Vanishing Sharpie: A Sharpie is wrapped in a napkin and then vanished. The napkin is crumpled to prove the marker is really gone before making it re-appear wherever you'd like. You'll also learn a one-handed, no-cover Sharpie vanish.
Bending Sharpie: Your Sharpie bends like rubber before instantly returning to solid form.
Appearing Ring in Hand: A circle drawn on your palm is transformed into a finger ring. This is the perfect opening to your favorite ring routine.
Ring Link: A stunning two-phase ring-through-Sharpie effect.
Hypno Lock: Quite possibly the most mind-bending routine in the whole project. After "hypnotizing" your volunteer, they're unable to open the Sharpie. No matter how easy you make it look to open and close the Sharpie, they are unable to do it. That is until you end their "hypnosis" and they can open it as normal.
BONUS IDEAS
Shympathetic: This baffling voodoo style routine uses two ordinary Sharpies, one of which is isolated in a bag. Everything done to the first Sharpie is mirrored on the one in the bag. From opening and closing the cap to bending the clip, you prove there is a mysterious invisible connection between the two markers. For a stunning finale, your volunteer draws something on a piece of paper with the first Sharpie that is then revealed to have been mimicked by the Sharpie in the bag.
Sniff Sharpie Gag: This one is admittedly a bit strange and probably not for everyone. But there is a group of you that will love this. You aggressively sniff a Sharpie without actually having to smell the Sharpie. It's totally safe and you won't have to worry about getting ink on your face.
Scented Touch: After explaining the strong connection scent can have to memories, you have someone think of an object with a strong aroma. A second person then smells the Sharpie and draws the first thing that comes to mind. Impossibly, it matches what the first person was envisioning.
Pen Thru Bill: An intriguing application for the gimmick that allows for a seemingly impromptu Sharpie-thru-bill.
Dry Ink Refill: A volunteer attempts to sign a card or coin, only to discover the ink is dry. You take it back, close the lid, and then remove it again to show the ink has magically refilled.
Spirit Box: A fun take on a spirit box routine where the Sharpie opens itself inside a bag/box and magically writes a revelation on a blank card.
Bag Shake Revelation: The Sharpie is opened and placed inside a bag that your volunteer then shakes. You tear open the bag to reveal that the scribbles inside actually reveal a thought.
Roulette: Three Sharpies are displayed. Two are shown to be dry and the other one writes. You predict the exact order in which the Sharpies will be picked.
